The Life and Legacy of Reverend Dr. William Baton Ball
Seguin's Reverend Dr. William Baton Ball, is a pivotal figure who founded the first pulic school for African Americans in Seguin in 1871, the Abraham Lincoln School, later renamed Ball High School in 1925. Ball, a formerly enslaved man, soldier, educator, and minister, served as the first principal, establishing a legacy of Black education that became part of the Seguin ISD before integration in 1966.
